Sorry to disappoint you - I don't have any cute pictures or videos to post this time. Just wanted to share a couple cute stories before I forget them.
Today was MLK today, which is apparently a Wash U holiday, which apparently means I got the day off. You will understand my surprise that I got today of if you consider that I have worked Thanksgiving, Christmas, New Years, Easter, Fourth of July, Memorial Day, and Labor day each AT LEAST once during the past 3 years. Most of them two to three times. This whole chief gig is sweet. :)
So, since I had today off, I got to stay home with Ava and have a girls day. We had a great morning, playing with her dollhouse, kitchen, and babydolls. She is getting so good at pretending! It just cracks us up.
So, she asked to sit on the potty about 6 times today. She still has never actually done anything more than "toot" on the potty, but she is really getting interested in it. I decided it was time to prepare for the potty training. I am not admitting to being brave enough to formally start the potty training just yet... So, we went to Target and bought Ava some Pull-Up panties and even some "big girl" panties. She was so excited about it and told Jake about it as soon as he got home. We also got a couple of those inserts that go on the adult toilet so the kids don't fall in. I figured if we're going to start the potty training soon, we better have potties at our disposal very quickly...
Then we went out for coffee with my friend Libby. On the way there, Ava heard an ambulance. She said, "Truck! Noisy!" and I said, "yeah, that's probably an ambulance." She replied, "Oh no! Going to Libby's house?! Hurt?!" I reassured her that Libby was fine, and she was quickly distracted by her own cup of hot chocolate.
Then tonight Ava was helping me cook dinner, alternating with playing with her teaset on the kitchen floor. When I was finishing up the cooking, I made a comment about how I needed to clean up the kitchen. The next thing I knew, she had taken all of her teaset and put it back in its container and put the lid on...cleaning up her mess too! But then tonight I found a missing teacup and went to put it in with the others. That's when I realized that she had put all of the toys back in the container with the water still in the teapot and cups...It was pretty amusing. I guess I didn't state explicitly that she should first dump out the water. :)
