Patrick got his first bath yesterday. As expected, he did not particularly enjoy it. Of course I had my big helper assisting with the bathing duties. Patrick was screaming throughout the entire ordeal. His screaming was stressing Ava out, so she started singing at the top of her lungs - either to drown him out or to "soothe" him (I'm not sure which). As you can imagine, it was a LOT of noise in one tiny bathroom. :)

Ava continues to be such a wonderful big sister. She shows so much concern for Patrick and has been amazingly selfless when it comes to him. Each night before bed she tells me, "Mom, I'm going to go to sleep now, but if I hear my baby crying, I'm going to come in and see what's going on." Each morning she comes into our room and sits next to me as I'm feeding him to watch, pat him, and offer to help ("I'll get you a wipe").
Tonight at bedtime, after throwing a major fit that I got up from laying down with her before she fell asleep, I laid back down with her (I know, I totally caved, I'm sure it's because I feel some guilt about splitting my time between the two of them). After a few minutes, Patrick started crying:
Ava: Mom, where did you put my baby?
Me: He's downstairs with Daddy.
Ava: It's ok if you want to go call up to him.
Me: Do you want me to go see if he's hungry?
Ava: Yeah. I love you.
Ava: Yeah. I love you.
So sweet. I can't believe that came from my three year old. I got downstairs and Jake informed me "somebody set off a firecracker in Patrick's diaper."
We're making it as a family of four!
