It's a BOY!!!
This morning Jake, Ava, and I went for my 20 week ultrasound. We found out that our baby is spot on for its size, and most exciting, that we are having a little boy!! We wanted to have Ava there with us when we found out. She was very good during the ultrasound (though she didn't quite understand why all the lights had to be off). She waved at the baby when we saw him looking at us and moving his little hands.
I am so excited to be having a boy. Also a little nervous about raising a little guy - I feel like we got this girl thing down pretty well...it's sure going to be a big change!! Thank goodness I know some great mommies of little boys who can give me plenty of advice. I've already been told by my friend Erin, "Get ready to be peed on...and laugh a lot!" Sound advice. :)
I think Ava will do great having a little brother. In fact, I think it may make the transition a little easier for her, since everything will just be so different than if we had another girl. She at least shouldn't have to share her fairy costumes too often. :)
Jake, I'm pretty sure, is ecstatic. As we were leaving the doctor's office, he said, "Well, this is probably good. I don't think I could manage two ponytails in the mornings." When I pointed out that we would have to get all new "boy" things, he said, "I think there will be an initial up front cost, but I'm pretty sure this will save me money in the long run." :) I think he's probably looking forward to having a little athlete and one day fellow beer connoisseur.
Here are some pics from our ultrasound today!!
