Hello, world!

I am unashamedly eating unpasteurized cheese for the first time in 9 months as I write this, and it is delicious.

A few pictures of the new proud parents:

After a rude awakening to the world, little Ava settled in quite nicely during her first few days at the hospital. She clearly has some strong Jennings traits, because she has been quite the voracious eater from hour one! She is already exceeding expectations by producing many more than the "minimum required" wet and poopy diapers. An overachiever, I can see. Baby Ava has also already made her first contribution to the advancement of medical science by volunteering to be a normal control in a study looking at developing new ways to monitor cerebral blood flow and activity. This basically involved her watching a video while having a little infrared monitor attached to her head for an hour, but she was happy to contribute for the less healthy babies who are to come in the future!

We had lots of wonderful visitors during our stay at "Barnes Hotel". Grandma and Grandpa Jennings came in for her delivery, and then my mom wasn't able to stay away and came back again the next day to stay for the weekend. :) Grandma and Grandpa Lindley also made it in just a couple hours after Ava was born and were able to stay through the weekend as well. Aunt Emily, Uncle Mark, and Cousin Aidan also made it into St. Louis on Friday night and stayed for the weekend. It was so sweet to watch Aidan meet his new cousin for the first time. We also had several great visits from friends who work in the hospital. It turns out you can break visiting hours policies if you're wearing a white coat.

Visits from new grandparents!
