In my "going home" outfit
Leaving the hospital
Is there a baby in there?
Home at last!
As much as Ava enjoyed her stay in the hospital (after all, she has spent a significant portion of her prenatal life there!), she was ready to hit the door and check out her new home with us. She was welcomed by Grandma and Grandpa Lindley, Grandma Jennings, Aunt Emily, Uncle Mark, and Cousin Aidan. Of course, in addition to our two furry friends, Reese and Bella, who are still trying to figure out this whole "new baby" thing. ("Why didn't she leave with the rest of the bunch on Sunday?" they are thinking...) The house was decorated with pink ribbons to usher in the tiny one. That evening, we (appropriately, for our little blueberry) had blueberry buckle to celebrate her arrival. Or as Aidan calls it, birfday cake. So we sang "Happy Birthday" to Ava so that Aidan had an excuse to blow out candles. Twice. It never gets old. :)
The first piece of mail I opened upon arrival at home.
Visiting with Aunt Emily and Uncle Mark
Happy grandparents!
Grandma Grubbs and the little ones.
Cousins!
Birfday cake!!
We settled in well and appreciated all the help and food offered by our families. Sunday, my dad and Grandma Grubbs were able to make it in as well. Now the house has settled down as everyone drifted home Sunday, but we are happily "playing house" as a new family. It turns out she likes to eat pretty much hourly from about 10 pm until about 5 am. It's like being on call every night! We are getting into a rhythm of eating, sleeping, and changing (diapers, clothes, sheets, burp cloths.....) and we are loving every single minute of it. I am just absolutely in love with this tiny little girl!!
Snuggling.
Aidan kept Reese from feeling neglected...
Jake and John with Ava
Bye-bye Ava! See you soon!
