Well I guess I'm finally a soccer mom. I didn't play soccer growing up...so I didn't even realize that shin guards existed until I got the memo on where to buy some for Ava. Ava is really enjoying her team. Her classmate Charlotte is also on the team. She had her first game on Sunday. Complete with a sparkly jeweled headband.
She started out on offense, and had her game face on:
Of course, as happens in soccer, she fell down shortly thereafter and had to leave the game crying, to "recover" on the bench. I think she actually enjoyed playing with her water bottle and chatting with her teammates on the bench better than being in the game. ;)
She got back in the game, this time a little tougher - no more crying when she fell.
And then she scored a goal!!! This is her on the way to score the goal:
After scoring her goal, she pretty much thought she was ready for the world cup.
So she decided to take the rest of the game as an opportunity to look for flowers while her coach (and parents) yelled at her to get back in the game. She just looked at all of us like we were crazy. :)
It was a lot of fun watching her play. I'm looking forward to the rest of the season!
