This weekend was the annual Macklind Avenue Mile - the net downhill mile race in our neighborhood. This year we ran as a family in the "Friends and Family" flight (ok, well Ava and Patrick rode in the stroller) along with our friends the Thach's. If by training you mean "having a baby and not running since then", then I have been training hard. :) Nonetheless, we ran the whole way, and I could barely walk the next day. Well worth it.
The real highlight of the race is the Kiddie Quarter Mile. Last year Jake ran alongside Ava, but this year Ava and her friend Addison ran all by themselves. They did so well, and were just as cute as could be. Apparently they were practicing their running at school all week. Hilarious.
Getting ready to walk up to the starting line. Obviously any world class runner needs her beads.
Family pic after our race:
Ava showing me her starting line pose. Looks like a serious runner to me.
At the starting line:
And they're off!!
Nearing the finish line:
And now it's time to cool off!
Of course Ava's #1 fan was cheering her on the whole way!
