Learning About Forgiveness

This Sunday they must have talked about forgiveness in Ava's Sunday School, because that's all she was talking about the rest of the day.  I wasn't 100% sure she totally understood what it meant, but was glad she started to think about it.  Well, God gave Ava an opportunity to learn about it first hand this week.

Today at school, Ava bit her best friend Addison.  When we asked her what happened, she explained that they were playing a puzzle and they "grabbed the puzzle piece at the same time.  It was a tie.  We both wanted the puzzle piece.  We started pushing and shoving and hitting, and then I went to close my teeth and Addison's shoulder just accidentally fell into my mouth."  It took a little persistence, but we were able to get her to admit that she bit her because she was angry at her.

We talked about treating others as we would like to be treated, and I think Ava really did "get it."  We had her make a note for Addison asking her for forgiveness.  She did a really good job, and it warmed my heart to see her truly sorry for hurting her friend.

I dotted out the words and she traced them.  Of course her signature is her own. :)

This is the back.  Ava is the big one on the left, and Addison is the one on the right.  Notice the "bit" on Addison's left shoulder with the ice pack on top of it.  So sweet.  I also love how she continues to put everyone's hair on top of their head.
