Today, Ava ran her first (of probably many) races. Jake ran the Macklind Avenue Mile - an annual "all downhill" mile race in our neighborhood. This year we entered Ava into the Kiddie Quarter Mile. We weren't sure how she would do - if she would actually run...or get tired out...or most likely skin both knees like she does every time she goes to the playground. But she did awesome! She ran the whole way, and we didn't need to visit the first aid tent at the finish line either! :) It was awesome to watch Ava and her Daddy run together!
After the race, we spent a couple hours at the adjacent Macklind Days festival, our annual neighborhood festival. We ate some good food, visited with neighbors, and listened to some live music. Ava also enjoyed the "display" the city water department put on....the biggest sprinkler I've ever seen! She's not surprisingly taking a hard nap right now to recover from her busy morning!
