We had a fiasco with the pumpkin carving this year. We got everything set up, then realized I couldnt find the carving stuff...I must have thrown it away last year (it's so cheaply made, was prob in terrible condition). I ran to target, got a new kit. Ready to go. I get about 1/3 the way around the top of the pumpkin, the (previously mentioned cheaply made) carving knife breaks in half. Forget it, we're going with a kitchen knife. Get the top of...rotten inside! Ugh!
So the next day I go get TWO new pumpkins and TWO new carving sets, just to be safe. Both pumpkins and carving sets held up, and we were ready to go.
"Let's carve the pumpkins!"
"Ok!!!"
.....an hour later, Jake and I finish our handiwork while Ava has destroyed the house, realizing she was pseudo-unsupervised while we carved away. :)
After we finished carving, we let Ava paint one of the pumpkins, which she thought was great. I also created a beautiful Tinkerbell carving, which Ava loved....the squirrels dissected her entire face by the next evening. Oh well...you win some, you lose some!
Yuck!:

And would you believe it...we didn't even get any pictures of the finished product! Oh well! :)
