I have heard Emily say to Aidan on more than one occasion that he needed to brush his teeth so the plaque monsters wouldn't get them. After fighting with Ava to brush her teeth last week, I took Emily's lead and said, "We have to brush your teeth so the plaque monster doesn't get them." She immediately let me brush them. Great trick, I thought!
In the past two hours tonight, Ava has woken up four times, crying. Every time we go up, rock her, and put her back down, then 15 minutes later she's crying again. It's so unlike her to wake up crying after we put her down. Finally, last time I went up there, I asked her if she was hurting. She shook her head no. I asked her why, then, was she crying? She replied, "Monsters in my teeth." I kind of wanted to laugh, but also felt terrible for putting the idea in her head! Thanks for the parenting tips, Emily. :)
