Ava went for her two month check up this week. She is continuing to grow! She weighs 11 lbs 3 oz now, and is in the 75th percentile for height and weight. She had previously thought her doctor was her friend, but I think she's questioning that after the 4 shots she endured. Poor thing!
Grandma Evelyn was here this week to help watch Ava - both Grandma and baby had a great time!
In another turn of events, we went to Ava's daycare on Wednesday to meet her teachers and bring her things, and after having brought Ava in I started having uncertainties about whether it was the right place for her at this stage in her life. So after 2 days of fretting over it, I started calling a list of in-home daycares in our neighborhood Friday morning in between seeing my clinic patients. I'm like "Hello, do you have an opening for Monday?" They must think I'm the least organized mother on the planet! But the good news is that we found a lady who watches a few kids in her home, and she literally lives ONE BLOCK away from our house! She seemed super nice, and the kids who were there seemed really happy. All of her references raved about her, so we have decided to go that route while Ava is still so small. Then we will likely transition her into more of a pre-school-like daycare once she's 2 or 3. I can't believe I changed the plans we've had in place for the past 6 months, but I feel much more at peace about the decision.
Ava has really started to smile and coo and bat at toys in the past few weeks. We have been trying to capture her on video, but she's kinda camera shy. Here is a video where we managed to catch her smiling. The talking is more elusive...
