Well, I've entered the home stretch. I am 28 weeks pregnant now, and a week into my third trimester. According to the "What to Expect" book, our baby now weighs about 3 pounds and is about 17 inchest from head to toe. She shouldn't get too much longer, but will continue to pack on the pounds over the upcoming weeks, mostly as fat. I guess the same will probably be true for her mother as well...
I have finally (finally!) finished all of my on-call months until after the baby is born, so now it is finally time to focus more on the baby and use my pregnancy as an excuse to put up my feet a little (hopefully!). I'm also starting to feel a few more of the "growing pains" of my expanding belly, with more frequent back aches and leg cramps. I've also scoped out where pretty much every single bathroom is in the hospital for my frequent interruptions of rounds to pee.
We are also quickly ascribing personality traits to the little one as well. For example, she loves desserts and sometime needs to take a bubble bath. And a lot of naps. It's funny how those are also the things her mommy needs... What can I say, we fully expect her to be as high maintenance as me. We're really in for it...but can't wait!
