Foiled, but not Spoiled

Yesterday Jake was staining the fence in the backyard, so we told Ava she could go out and play in her pool while he was working. So we got on the swimsuit...and the hat...and the sunscreen...and the sunglasses...and the sandals. We got out to the backyard to find no less than a dead bird floating in her pool! Which Ava immediately pointed to and announced "bird". Thanks Ava. The dead bird of course shows up the morning after I scrubbed the pool from top to bottom and refilled it with fresh water.

So...plan B. I ran to Target to buy a sprinkler. I found a giant beach ball sprinkler that looked great...no flying/spinning parts that would either scare or hurt her. After 2o minutes of blowing the darn thing up, I finally got the hose attached and water running. Ava had a great time in it...for the 10 minutes it lasted until it broke! Instead of water shooting out, the water was now just filling up the beachball.

Ok, fine...plan C. We just colored with sidewalk chalk and played in the hose. Ava was just as happy! I had a fun evening tonight...rescrubbing the pool.

Ava checking out the short-lived sprinkler. Now where did I put that darn receipt...
